The cop Pongo stopped him and investigated the box. Clem told that it had a cat. The cop insisted on opening it.

When Clem did so, a ship’s cat jumped off and escaped into the docks. When Clem Jones returned with the box of cheese, he looked angrily at the policeman Pongo to make the policeman feel guilty of his previous act of opening the box, in which the cat was kept inside. By making Pongo feel guilty, Clem was able to avoid any more security checks and thus was able to steal a large Dutch Cheese.

ஒரு காட்டில் நிறைய மிருகங்கள் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தன. அந்தக் காட்டிற்கு ஒரு புலி அரசனாக இருந்தது. அந்தப்புலி எல்லா மிருகங்களையும் அடித்துக் கொன்று சாப்பிட்டு வந்தது. ஒரு நாள், ஒரு விவசாயியின் தோட்டத்தில் விளைந்திருந்த கனிகளையும் காய்களையும் கிழங்குகளையும் வயிறாரத் தின்றது ஒரு முயல். ஆனாலும் அந்த முயலுக்கு மனதில் ஒரு கவலை இருந்தது.

புலிக்குக் கிடைக்கும் மரியாதை தனக்கும் கிடைக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் புலியை விட தானே சிறந்தவன் என்றும் புலிக்கும் காட்டில் உள்ள விலங்குகளுக்கும் நிரூபிக்க வேண்டுமென முயலுக்கு ஆசை தோன்றியது. உடனே முயல் சிந்தித்து செயல்படத் தொடங்கியது.

அதற்காக ஒரு திட்டம் தீட்டியது. புலி வரும் பாதையில் கால்மேல் கால்போட்டு அமர்ந்து இருந்தது. அந்த வழியாக வந்த புலி முயலைப் பார்த்து, ”உனக்கு எவ்வளவு தைரியம்……. இவ்வளவு காலம் என்னைக் கண்டாலே ஓட்டம் எடுப்பாய். இப்பொழுது கால்மேல் கால் போட்டு உட்கார்ந்து இருக்கிறாயா உன்னை … என்று புலி கூறியது. அதனைக் கேட்ட முயல், “ஓடினேனா…. நானா…. உன்னைக் கண்டா…..? உனக்குச் செய்தியே தெரியாதா?

உனக்கு எங்கே தெரியப்போகிறது, இங்குக்கூட்டம் நடந்தபோது நீதான் அப்பாவி விலங்குகளை வேட்டையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தாயே…. அந்தக் கூட்டத்தில், நீ இந்தக் காட்டின் அரசனாக இனிமேலும் நீடிக்கக்கூடாது என்று எல்லா விலங்குகளும் ஒரே மனதாகத் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றின்” என்றது.

முயல் சொன்னதைக் கேட்ட புலி, “நான் அரசனாக நீடிக்கக் கூடாதா? அப்படியானால் வேறு யார் அரசனாக இருக்கப் போகிறது என்று கேட்டது. அதற்கு முயல், “என்னைத்தான் எல்லா விலங்குகளும் புதிய அரசனாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தன” என்று கூறியது.

புலி முயலிடம், “நீ அரசனா! இப்போதே உன்னைக் கொன்று சாப்பிடுகிறேன் பார்” என்று முயலின் அருகில் சென்றது. முயல், நீ நம்பவில்லையென்றால் என்னை உன் முதுகில் ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு போ உனக்கு நிரூபிக்கிறேன்” என்றது. புலியும் அதற்கு
ஒப்புக் கொண்டு முயலைத் தன் முதுகில் ஏற்றிக்கொண்டு காட்டிற்குள் வலம் வந்தது.

இவைகளைக் கண்ட எல்லா மிருகங்களும் ஆச்சரியத்துடனும் பயத்துடனும் பார்த்தன. இதனைக் கண்ட புலி , ”ஒரு வேளை முயல் சொன்னது சரியாகத்தான் இருக்குமோ என்று எண்ணியது. பிறகு முயலிடம், “அரசே நான் உங்களைத் தவறாகப் பேசியிருந்தால் மன்னித்து விட்டு விடுங்கள்” என்று மன்னிப்புக் கேட்டது புலி. அதற்கு முயல், “இப்போது சொல் இந்தக் காட்டிற்கு அரசன் யார்? என்று புலியிடம் கேட்டது. புலியும் நீங்கள் தான் என்றது.

பிறகு முயல் புலியைப் பார்த்து, உன்னை மன்னித்து விடுகிறேன் நீ இந்தக் காட்டிலேயே இருக்கக் கூடாது. எங்காவது ஓடிப்போய்விடு” என்று கட்டளையிட்டது. அதனைக் கேட்ட புலியும் அக்காட்டை விட்டு ஓடிச் சென்றது. பிறகு முயல் மகிழ்ச்சியாக அந்தக்காட்டைச் சுற்றி வந்தது. இப்போதெல்லாமல் முயல் வயிறாரத் தின்றுவிட்டு நிம்மதியாக, சுகமாகப் பகல் வேளைகளில் ஒரு குட்டித் துக்கம் போட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தது.

இரு அரசர்களுக்கு இடையே பயங்கரப் போர் நடக்கின்றது. இதில் தோல்வியுற்ற மன்னன் வெற்றி பெற்ற மன்னனால் கைது செய்யப்படுகின்றான். தோல்வியுற்ற மன்னன் அரசவையில் நிறுத்தப்படுகின்றான். வெற்றி பெற்ற மன்னர் “உனக்குத் தூக்கு தண்டனை உன் கடைசி ஆசை என்ன?” என்று கேட்கின்றார். அதற்கு தோற்ற மன்னர் கண்ணாடிப் பாத்திரத்தில் பருக நீர் வேண்டும் என்றார். அதன் படி மன்னர் ஆணையிட, பணியாள் தண்ணீரைக் கொடுத்தார்.

அதைக் குடிக்கமால் தோற்ற மன்னன் தயங்குகின்றான். மேலும், “இதைக் குடிப்பதற்குள் உன் வீரர்கள் கொன்று விடுவார்களோ என்று பயமாக உள்ளது” என்றார். இந்த நீரைக் குடிக்கும் வரை உன்னைக் கொல்ல மாட்டோம் என்றனர். கண்ணாடிப் பாத்திரத்தை உடைத்து, அந்தத் தண்ணீரை எடுத்துத் தாருங்கள் குடிக்கின்றேன் என்றார். மன்னர் கல்வியால் வந்த நுண்ணறிவு கண்டு அம்மன்னனை விடுதலை செய்து மீண்டும் நாட்டைக் கொடுத்தான்.

ஏமாற்றம் அடைந்த சிங்கம் :
காட்டில் சிங்கம் ஒன்று உணவு தேடி அலைந்தது எந்த விலங்கும் அதன் கண்களில் படவில்லை . பசியால் வாடிய அதன் கண்களுக்குப் புதர் அருகே இந்த சிறு முயல் ஒன்று தெரிந்தது. அந்த முயலைப் பிடித்து அது இந்தக் குட்டி முயல் என் பசியைப் போக்குமா? என்று நினைத்தது , அப்பொழுது சிறிது தொலைவில் மான் ஒன்று மேய்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தது. அதன் கண்களில் பட்டது. கொழுத்த மான் கிடைத்தது என்ற மகிழ்ச்சியில் முயலை விட்டு விட்டு மானிடம் ஓடியது அது.

சிங்கத்தைப் பார்த்து விட்ட மான் அங்கிருந்து ஒரே ஓட்டமாக ஓடத்தொடங்கியது. எவ்வளவோ முயன்றும் சிங்கத்தால் அதைப் பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. சிங்கத்தின் பார்வையில் இருந்தே மான் மறைந்தது.
ஏமாற்றம் அடைந்த சிங்கம் அந்தக் குட்டி முயலையாவது உண்போம் என்று புதர் அருகே வந்தது. அங்கே முயலைக் காணவில்லை முயலும் தப்பித்து விட்டதை அறிந்து வருந்தியது அது.

பேராசைக்காரன் :
ஓர் ஊரில் அகிலன் என்பவன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். அவனது நண்பன் முகிலன். அகிலன் எதற்கெடுத்தாலும் பேராசை கொள்பவன். ஆனால், முகிலனோ பேராசை கொள்ளாதவன். இருவரும் ஒருநாள் காட்டிற்கு விறகு எடுக்கச் செல்கின்றனர். அங்கிருந்த செடி கொடி அழகை இரசித்துக் கொண்டு காய்ந்தக் குச்சிகளை மட்டும் முகிலன் எடுத்தான்.

காய்ந்த குச்சிகளை மட்டும் எடுக்காமல், பல மரக்கிளையை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினான் அகிலன். ஏன் இப்படிப் பச்சை மரத்தை வெட்டுகின்றாய் என்று முகிலன் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அகிலன் அடுத்த முறை இந்த ஒடித்த பச்சைக் குச்சிகள் காய்ந்து எனக்கு நிறைய விறகுகள் கிடைக்கும் என்றான். திடீரென காட்டில் பயங்கர சத்தம் கேட்டது. இருவரும் சென்று பார்த்தனர்.

மயில் ஒன்று புதருக்குள் முள் வேலியில் சிக்கிக் கத்திக் கொண்டு இருந்தது. முகிலன் அதனைக் காப்பாற்றுகின்றான். இருவருக்கும் அந்த மயில் மரக்கன்றுகளைப் பரிசளித்தது. இது தங்கப்பூ தரும் என்று சொல்லிச் சென்றது. காட்டிற்குச் சென்று வந்த இருவரும் அதை வளர்க்கின்றனர். இருவரின் மரமும் வளர்ந்தது. ஆனால் முகிலன் மரம் பூக்கவில்லை .

அதற்காக அவன் கவலைப்படவும் இல்லை . அகிலன் ஒரு சில பூக்கள் பூத்ததும், பேராசை கொண்டு கிளையில் இத்தனைப் பூ என்றால், மரத்திற்குள் நிறைய பூக்கள் இருக்கும் என்று பேராசையில் மரத்தை வெட்டிவிட்டான். எதுவும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. ஏமாந்து போனான். காலந்தாழ்த்தினால் முகிலன் மரமோ ஏராளமான தங்கப் பூக்கள் பூத்துக் குலுங்கின.

அன்று கிருஷ்ணதேவராயரின் அரண்மனை அமர்களப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அறிஞர் பெருமக்களும் மற்றவர்களும் மண்டபத்தில் குழுமியிருந்தனர். தெனாலிராமனும் ஓர் ஆசனத்தில் அமர்ந்தான். மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவராயர் வந்தவுடன் சபை கூடியது. வேற்றூரிலிருந்து வந்த தத்துவஞானியை விழாவைத் தொடங்கி வைத்து விவாத மன்றத்தை ஆரம்பிக்கச் சொன்னர்.

தத்துவ ஞானியும் ஏதேதோ சொன்னார். ஒருவருக்கும் ஒன்றும் விளங்கவில்லை. அவர் பேச்சின் இறுதியில் மாய தத்துவம் பற்றி நீண்ட நேரம் பேசினார். அதாவது நாம் கண்ணால் காண்பதும் மாயை, உண்பதும் மாயை என்று சொன்னார்.

இதைக்கேட்ட அறிஞர்கள் முதல் அரசர்வரை எவருமே வாய் திறக்கவில்லை. ராஜகுரு மௌனமாகி விட்டார். சுற்றும் முற்றும் பார்த்த தெனாலிராமன் எழுந்து நின்றான்.

தத்துவஞானியைப் பார்த்து, ஐயா தத்துவ ஞானியாரே ஏன் பிதற்றுகிறீர் நாம் உண்பதற்கும் உண்பதாக நினைப்பதற்கும் வித்தியாசமே இல்லையா? எனக் கேட்டான்.

அதற்கு தத்துவஞானி வித்தியாசம் இல்லை என்றான்.

அதை சோதிக்க தெனாலிராமன் அரசரிடம் ஒருவிருந்துக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்யச் சொன்னார். விருந்து ஏற்பாடு ஆயிற்று.

அனைவரும் பந்தியில் அமர்ந்து சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கினார். தத்துவஞானிக்கு உணவு பரிமாறியும் சாப்பிடக்கூடாது எனக் கட்டளை இட்டுவிட்டனர். அதனால் தத்துவஞானி தன் தவறை உணர்ந்தான். இதைப்பார்த்த அரசர் தெனாலிராமனின் திறமையைப் பாராட்டி பொன் பரிசளித்தது மட்டுமில்லாமல் அன்று முதல் அவரது அரசவை விகடகவியாக்கினார்.

பள்ளியில் என்னை எல்லா ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் பிடிக்கும். காரணம், நான் நன்றாக படிப்பேன். ஆசிரியர் தரும் வீட்டுப் பாடங்களைச் சிறப்பாகச் செய்வேன். எல்லா ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் உரிய மரியாதை கொடுப்பேன். அதனால் எல்லா ஆசிரியர்களும் என்னை விரும்புவர். இதைக் கண்டு பொறாமைப்பட்ட என் நண்பன் என்னிடம் வந்து, ”உன்னை எல்லா ஆசிரியர்களும் பாராட்டுகின்றனர். அந்த இரகசியத்தை எனக்கு மட்டும் கூறு.

அது எனக்கு பயன் மிகுந்ததாக இருக்கும்” என்றான். “அந்த இரகசியத்தை உன்னிடம் நான் கூறினால் அதனை நீ எவரிடமும் கூறக்கூடாது” என்று கூறினேன். அதற்கு அவன், “இரகசியத்தை எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலும் யாரிடமும் கூறமாட்டேன்” என்றான். “அப்படியா- மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சி. ஒரு இரகசியத்தைக் காப்பாற்றும் ஆற்றல் உனக்கு இருப்பது போல் எனக்கும் உண்டு. ஆதலால் இந்த இரகசியத்தை யாரிடம் எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலும் சொல்லமாட்டேன்”. என்று கூறினேன். என்னிடம் அவன் தந்திரம் பலிக்காததால் ஏமாற்றத்துடன் சென்று விட்டான்.

நிகழ்வு -2 :
என் வகுப்பில் படிக்கும் மாணவன் நோட்டு வாங்குவதற்காக நுறு ரூபாய் கொண்டு வந்திருந்தான். அவன் வைத்திருந்த நுறு ரூபாயை ஏதோ ஒரு மாணவன் திருடி விட்டான்.

ணத்தை இழந்த மாணவன் மிகவும் வருத்தப்பட்டு அழுவதைக்கண்ட வகுப்பாசிரியர் திருடிய மாணவனைக் கண்டுபிடித்து தண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்று மிகவும் கோபத்துடன் இருந்தார். மாணவர்களிடம் பலமுறை கேட்டும், எந்த மாணவனும் குற்றத்தை ஒப்புக்கொள்ளவில்லை.

காரணம் திருடியது தான் என்று தெரிந்தால் எல்லோரும் தன்னைத் திருடன் என்று அழைப்பாளர்களே என்ற பயமும் ஒரு காரணமாக அமைந்தது. ஆசிரியரிடம் நான் கூறினேன், இப்படி ஒரு காரணம் இருப்பதால் திருடியவன் தயங்குகிறான் என்று நினைக்கிறேன். அதனால் அனைவரும் வகுப்பறைக்கு வெளியே சென்று நிற்போம்.

“நான் போய் ஆள் அனுப்புகிறேன். அதன்பின் நீவா என்று சொல்லி விஜயநகரத்துக்குச் சென்று விட்டார். தெனாலிராமன் மிகக் கெட்டிக்காரனாக இருக்கிறான். இவனை மன்னரிடம் சொல்லி அரண்மனையில் விகடகவியாக சேர்த்துவிட்டால் நம் வேலை போய்விடும் என்று எண்ணிய ராஜகுரு தெனாலிராமனுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பவே இல்லை.

தெனாலிராமனும் ராஜகுருவிடமிருந்து ஆள் வரும் வரும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்து பல மாதங்கள் ஓடிவிட்டன. எந்தத் தகவலும் அவனுக்குக்கிட்டவில்லை . ஆகையால் விஜயநகரம் சென்று ராஜகுருவை நேரில் பார்த்து அரண்மனையில் சேர்ந்து விட வேண்டுமென்று நகரம் வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.

பலவித இடையூறுகளுக்கிடையே தெனாலிராமன் ராஜகுருவை அவரது இல்லத்தில் சந்தித்தான். தெனாலிராமனைப் பார்த்ததும் ராஜகுரு அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தார். யாரப்பா நீ? உனக்கு என்ன வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார். இதைக் கேட்ட தெனாலிராமன் பதறினார்.

ராஜகுருவே நான்தான் தெனாலிராமன். தாங்கள் மங்களகிரிக்கு வந்த போது நண்பர்கள் ஆனோம். நான் கேட்டுக் கொண்டதற்கு இணங்க தாங்கள் அரசவையில் என்னைச் சேர்த்து விடுவதாகச் சொன்னீர்கள். ஆள் அனுப்பிய பின் வா என்றீர்கள். பல மாதங்களாக தங்களிடமிருந்து ஆள் வராததால் தான் நான் நேரில் வந்துள்ளேன். தயவு செய்து என்னை பற்றி மன்னரிடம் சொல்லி அரசபையில் சேர்த்து விடுங்கள் என்று வேண்டினான்.

உன்னை யாரென்றே எனக்குத் தெரியாதப்பா மரியாதையாக வெளியே போ, இல்லையேல் அவமானப்படுவாய் என்று விரட்டினார். வீட்டைவிட்டு வெளியேற்றப்பட்ட தெனாலிராமன் பழிக்குப்பழி வாங்கத் துடித்தான். காளி மகாதேவியைத் துதித்தான்.

பீர்பால் கதை – முட்டாள்களிடம் எப்படி பேசுவது?
அக்பர் ஒரு நாள் பீர்பாலிடம் பேசிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போது ஒரு புதுமையான கேள்வி ஒன்று எழுந்தது. உடனே பீர்பாலிடம் முட்டாள்களிடம் எப்படி பேசுவது? என்று அக்பர் கேட்டார். திடீரென்று அக்பர் இப்படி ஒரு கேள்வியைக் கேட்பார் என்று எதிர்பாராமையால், மன்னர் பெருமானே இதற்கான பதிலை நாளைக்குக் கூறுகிறேன் என்றார் பீர்பால்.

மறுநாள் காலை – பீர்பால் டில்லிக்கு அருகிலுள்ள ஒரு கிராமத்திற்குச் சென்று ஒருவனிடம் நான் சொல்வது போன்று செய்தால் நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசுகள் தருகிறேன் என்றார்.அவனும் பீர்பால் சொல்வது போன்று செய்வதாகக் கூறினான். உன்னை நான் இப்போது மன்னரின் அரண்மனைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று மன்னரிடம் அறிமுகம் படுத்தி வைப்பேன்.

அச்சமயம் மன்னர் உன்னிடம் சில கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டார். மன்னர் என்ன கேள்விகள் கேட்டாலும் நீ வாய் திறந்து பதில் பேசாது மவுனமாக நின்று கொண்டிருக்க வேண்டும் என்றார். பீர்பால் கிராமத்தானை அரசவைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார்.

மன்னர் பெருமானே! இவன் எனது உறவினன், படித்தவன், உலக அறிவு மிக்கவன், தாங்கள் என்ன கேள்விகள் கேட்டாலும் இவனால் உடனடியாகப் பதில் கூற மன்னர் அவனை நோக்கி, பீர்பாலிடம் கேட்ட அதே கேள்வியை, முட்டாள்களிடம் சில சமயம் பேச நேரிட்டால் எப்படி நடந்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார். கிராமத்துக்காரன் பீர்பாலிடம் சொல்லியபடி மன்னர் கேட்ட கேள்விக்கு பதில் ஒன்றும் பேசாது மவுனமாக நின்றிருந்தான். மன்னர் பலமுறை இதுபோன்று கேட்டும் அவன் பதில் கூறாது வாய்மூடி மவுனம் சாதித்தான்.

இதனால் அக்பர், பீர்பாலை நோக்கி, என்ன? உங்கள் உறவினரிடம் பலமுறை கேட்டும் இதற்குப் பதில் கூறாது மவுனம் சாதிக்கிறானே! நீங்கள் கூறியபடி இவன் அறிவாளியாக இருப்பான் என்று தெரியவில்லையே! என்றார்.பீர்பால், மன்னர் பெருமானே! தாங்கள் கேட்ட கேள்விக்குத்தான் பதில் கூறி விட்டானே என்றார்.

நான் கேட்ட கேள்விக்கு எங்கே பதில் கூறினான் மவுனமாக நின்று கொண்டிருக்கிறானே! என்றார் அக்பர். மன்னர் பெருமானே! நேற்றைய தினம் முட்டாள்களிடம் சில சமயம் பேச நேரிட்டால் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும்? என்று தானே கேட்டீர்கள். அதற்கான விடையைத் தான் தன்னுடைய மவுனத்தின் மூலம் விடை கூறியுள்ளான். அதாவது முட்டாள்களிடம் சில சமயம் பேச நேரிட்டால் மவுனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதை தான் பேசாது வாய்மூடி மவுனமாக இருந்தான் என்றார் பீர்பால்.

முட்டாள்களுக்கு உதாரணமாக தன்னைக் குறிப்பிட்டாலும், முட்டாள்களிடம் எதனைப் .. பற்றிப் பேசினாலும் அவர்களுக்கு தக்க பதில் கூற முடியாது. ஆகையினால் அவர்களிடம் a பேசாமல் இருப்பதே சிறந்ததாகும் என்பதை உணர்த்திய பீர்பாலின் நுண் அறிவைப் 9 பாராட்டினார் அக்பர்.

மரியாதை ராமன் கதை – யாருடைய முத்து? :
நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஒரு ஏழை தன் பணக்கார நண்பன் மீது வழக்குத் தொடுத்தான். “நீதிபதி அவர்களே என்னிடம் விலைமதிப்பற்ற நல்ல முத்துக்கள் இரண்டு உள்ளன. அவற்றை எனது நண்பனிடம் கொடுத்துவிட்டு வியாபார விசயமாக வெளியூர் சென்றுவிட்டேன்.

திரும்பி வந்து நான் கேட்கும் பொழுது அவ்விரு முத்துக்களையும் திருப்பித் தரமால் நான் கொடுக்கவே இல்லை என்று மோசம் செய்தான்” என நண்பன் புகார் கூறினான்.

அதற்கு நண்பனே “நான் அம்முத்துக்களை வாங்கியதும் இல்லை, பார்த்ததும் இல்லை. அவை போன்ற முத்துக்கள் எதுவும் என்னிடம் இல்லை. நான் பணக்காரன் என்பதால் என்னிடம் பணம் பறிக்க பொய்சொல்லுகிறான் என்றான்.
அவனுடைய மோச கருத்தை முகக்குறிப்பினால் உணர்ந்த மரியாதை இராமன் “போதிய சாட்சியம் இல்லாததால் இவ்வழக்கைத் தள்ளுபடி செய்கிறேன்” என்று கூறினான். ஏழை அழுதபடியே வீட்டிற்குச் சென்றான்.

இருவரையும் அனுப்பி விட்டு சில நாட்கள் கடந்ததும் ஏழையின் முத்துக்களைப் போன்று 98 முத்துக்களை அரண்மனையிலிருந்து வரவழைத்து, அவற்றை ஒரு நைந்த சரத்தில் கோர்த்து முத்துமாலையாக்கி அதை மாலை நேரத்தில் மோசக்காரனிடம் கொடுத்து, “நண்பனே நீ முத்துக்களைக் கோர்ப்பதில் கைதேர்ந்தவன் என்று கேள்விப்பட்டேன்.

என்னிடம் உள்ள இந்த முத்துமாலையில் நூறு முத்துக்கள் இருக்கின்றன. சரடு நைந்து போய் விட்டால், புதிய சரடில் கோர்த்து அழகான முத்துமாலையாக கட்டிக் கொண்டு வந்து தா” எனச் சொல்லி அனுப்பினான் இராமன்.

அதை வாங்கிச் சென்றவன் மறுநாள் பிரித்து எண்ணிப் பார்க்கும் போது 98 முத்துக்கள் மட்டுமே இருப்பதைக் கண்டு திடுக்கிட்டான். “தான் அவற்றைக் கைதவறுதலாக காணாமற் போக்கடித்துவிட்டோமோ” என்று குழம்பி திகிலுற்றான். பிறகு குறையும் இரண்டு முத்துக்களுக்குப் பதிலாக ஏற்கனவே தான் நண்பனிடம் மோசடி செய்து வைத்திருந்த இரண்டு முத்துக்களையும் சேர்த்து மாலையாக கட்டி நீதிபதியிடம் கொண்டு போய் கொடுத்தான்.

அந்த முத்துமாலையில் 100 முத்துக்கள் இருப்பதை எண்ணிப்பார்த்த மரியாதை இராமன் அவனை நீதிமன்றத்தில் நிறுத்தி கோபத்துடன் “நண்பனே நான் கொடுத்தது 98 முத்துக்கள் தான். அவற்றோடு நீ சேர்த்திருக்கும் இரண்டு முத்துக்களும் உனது சிநேகிதனிடமிருந்து சில காலத்திற்கு முன் நீ அபகரித்தவையாகும்” என்றான்.

மோசடிகாரனுக்கு வேறு வழி தோன்றவில்லை. தனது திருட்டை ஒப்புக்கொண்டபின், பின்பு இராமன் அவ்விரு முத்துக்களையும் உரியவரிடம் ஒப்படைத்துவிட்டு மோசடி செய்தவனுக்கு 10 பவுன் அபராதம் விதித்தான்.
